Israel passes controversial death penalty law
The Israeli Parliament has passed a law that provides for the death penalty by hanging as the standard punishment for Palestinians convicted by military courts of deadly attacks. The law applies only to attacks aimed at 'ending Israel's existence' and was demanded by Prime Minister Netanyahu's far-right allies. Jewish Israelis are exempt from this law.
