Justice minister demands law to regulate shipping in bad weather
Following the fatal shipping tragedy at Cavo Greco in which businessman Dimis Mavropoulos died, Justice Minister Costas Fytiris is demanding a change in legislation. The minister emphasized that there is currently no law preventing ships from setting sail in dangerous weather conditions. Fytiris announced that the government will review existing regulations for anchoring and departures, and that a legal framework should be created in the future to prohibit voyages in extreme weather.
