Karamanlides: Greek-Orthodox Turkish-speaking population of Anatolia
The Karamanlides were a population group native to Anatolia, considered Turkish-speaking Greeks. They spoke a Turkish dialect but wrote it using Greek letters. This unique cultural and linguistic identity developed in the region following the Turkish conquest of Anatolia starting in 1071.
