Kazakhstan: New Constitution Enters Into Force, Elections Set for August
Kazakhstan's new constitution entered into force on July 1, following which President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set August 23 as the date for parliamentary elections. The constitution, which was approved in a referendum on March 15, replaced the previous bicameral system with a unicameral parliament.
