Lithuania exhumes Soviet soldiers' graves
Lithuania has exhumed the remains of at least 48 Soviet soldiers from a cemetery next to the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Šiauliai. This action is carried out in accordance with a national desovietization law that mandates the removal of public symbols of totalitarian regimes. The action is based on a decision by the Lithuanian Desovietization Commission from 2024.
