Low savings rates and rising mortgage rates burden Cypriot households
Cypriot households receive comparatively low interest rates on bank deposits while mortgage credit interest rates are rising simultaneously. Data from the Central Bank of Cyprus from August 2026 shows that the country's savings rates are among the lowest in the eurozone and lending rates are rising again.
