Makarios Under Pressure: Historic Five-Power Conference 1964
A historical review of American and British policy regarding Cyprus in 1964. Following inter-communal conflicts in December 1963 and the withdrawal of Turkish Cypriots from government and administration, NATO countries, particularly Britain, sought to keep the Cyprus problem under control. President Makarios was pressured to agree to a five-power conference initiated by Britain.
