Meat Consumption Down 20% at Easter
Demand for lamb and goat meat declined by 20 percent during the Easter period, according to Kostas Livadiotis, chairman of the butchers' association. The decline is attributed to consumer safety concerns following foot-and-mouth disease cases. There are also fears of further spread of the virus to pig farming operations.
