Methana Volcano in Greece Shows Unexpected Activity
New research published in Science Advances shows that the Methana volcano in Greece, approximately 50 km from Athens, is not completely extinct as previously assumed. Although the volcano has shown no external signs of activity such as ash clouds or lava flows for over 100,000 years, large volumes of magma are accumulating underground.
