Miami Beach pump stations signal market change
Miami Beach now operates 49 wastewater pump stations on a barrier island that originally relied on gravity drainage. Since 2011, the city has invested over 103 million dollars in completed flood protection projects and is committed to an additional 500 million dollars, financed through an 84-percent increase in wastewater fees and local tax revenues.
