Municipal administrative reform: First test period successfully completed
On July 1, 2026, the second anniversary of the administrative reform of local government is celebrated—one of the most important institutional changes in the Republic of Cyprus since its EU accession. The municipal consolidations, the creation of regional self-government bodies, and the decentralization of competencies from central administration have passed this first major stress test.
