Municipalities demand sustainable financing – protest planned
The president of the municipal association criticizes the government for insufficient funding of municipalities. While state tax revenues have increased from 4.65 billion euros (2010) to 10.8 billion euros (2024), subsidies to municipalities have remained practically stagnant. Trade unions now support the protest by mayors planned for August 3, 2026, and demand immediate negotiations on long-term solutions.
