Nearly one in five Cypriots threatened by poverty or social exclusion
According to current Eurostat data, approximately 20 percent of Cyprus's population was threatened by poverty or social exclusion in 2025, affecting about 167,000 people. This represents an increase of about 3,000 persons compared to the previous year, with women disproportionately affected, with about 18,000 more women than men in this situation. At the EU average, 92.7 million people were affected by this issue.
