New Emergency Service: National Ambulance Authority Established
The Cypriot Parliament has passed legislation establishing a National Ambulance Authority, which reserves state ambulances exclusively for life-threatening emergencies and leaves non-emergency cases to private providers within the framework of the General Health System (GHS). The current ambulance service handles over 95,000 transfers per year, of which more than 45,000 are non-emergency.
