New protection program for Cyprus's birds of prey launches in October
Six organizations and state authorities are collaborating to protect the griffon vulture, the golden eagle, and the long-legged buzzard – three important raptor species in Cyprus that are threatened by poisoned bait, electrocution, collisions with energy infrastructure, shooting, and drowning in open water tanks. The project "Raptors for LIFE" officially begins in October 2026.
