New shipwrecks and ancient harbor discovered off Greek island of Karpathos
The Greek Ministry of Culture announced the discovery of several underwater finds in the waters around the island of Karpathos in the southeastern Aegean Sea. The systematic mission in October 2025 is part of a strategic program running since 2019 to map the submerged cultural heritage of the Aegean. During the first systematic underwater survey of the region, new shipwrecks and remains of an ancient harbor were found.
