New warnings for popular contraceptives – brain tumor risk
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has issued new safety guidelines for widely used hormonal contraceptives containing the active ingredients desogestrel and etonogestrel. After reviewing scientific data, the Risk Assessment Committee found that long-term use of these products beyond one year is associated with increased risks. The new guidelines are intended to alert doctors and patients to potential health risks.
