New York Honors Fallen Greek-American Police Officer
A street in New York was named on April 27, 2026, in honor of deceased police officer Anastasios Tsakos, exactly five years after his death. The veteran of Greek heritage was struck and killed by a drunk driver while on duty on the Long Island Expressway. The renaming of the intersection of 42nd Street and 23rd Avenue honors his memory and service.
