Nicosia: Debate over reopening Makarios Avenue to cars
A citizen initiative called "Joint Platform for the Revitalisation of the Urban Commercial Core of Every City" demands the reopening of the lower section of Makarios Avenue in Nicosia to vehicular traffic. Currently, driving on the street from Lykavitos police station toward the Old Town is not permitted. The initiative argues that private vehicles are necessary for the economic revitalization of the street.
