North Cypriot Parliament Withdraws Controversial Austerity Law
The Turkish Cypriot Parliament unanimously decided to withdraw a legislative proposal to cut cost-of-living allowances for civil servants. The initiative had previously led to massive protests, including a general strike and four major demonstrations in front of Parliament in April. The coalition parties agreed to this withdrawal following intensive negotiations.
