Ombudsman Warns: People with Disabilities Placed in Care Homes for the Elderly
The Cypriot Ombudsman for Administration and Human Rights has published a report highlighting problematic conditions: people with intellectual disabilities and mental illnesses are being placed in facilities for elderly people. The Ombudsman calls on relevant authorities to address this problem and end institutionalization and placement in unsuitable facilities. It proposes that this be done in cooperation and coordination with the Cypriot Confederation of Disability Organizations.
