Omonia fails in Champions League penalty shootout
Cypriot champion Omonia was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday after losing the penalty shootout against Kazakhstan's Kairat Almaty 6:5. Following a 1:0 loss after extra time, Omonia played with only nine players due to two dismissals and entered the penalty shootout after an equal aggregate score, which they lost. The club now drops into Europa League qualification.
