Only One Cypriot MEP Votes Against Chat Controls
Fidias Panayiotou was the only Cypriot Member of the European Parliament who voted against the temporary reinstatement of so-called chat control legislation. The law was nevertheless passed and is now valid until April 2028, representing a setback for data privacy advocates. Chat Control is an informal term for EU surveillance measures on digital communication platforms.
