Overcrowded: Police Cells Beyond Capacity
Not only prisons, but also police cells are suffering from overcrowding. In the Lakatamiea police cell, for example, 77 detainees are housed in 40 spaces, with some sleeping on the floor and deprived of their rights. Officers warn of serious problems with hygiene, safety, and violations of fundamental human rights.
