Paphos Forest Fires: Forest Protection Chief Suspects Arson
The head of the forest protection department, Savvas Ezekiel, expressed concerns that repeated fires in Paphos may be due to arson. On Saturday, two fires broke out in Lysos—approximately 500 meters apart—with the first starting around 4 p.m. in the Potamoudes area and destroying about seven hectares of forest. Ezekiel said that something is happening in the region and the phenomenon must be investigated seriously.
