Parliament Abolishes Social Support Authority
The Cypriot Parliament has decided to dissolve the Independent Social Support Authority and transfer its assets and responsibilities to the Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation. The decision follows a motion by the AKEL party and is related to a corruption scandal (Videogate) that affected the authority. The authority was originally established to provide financial assistance, particularly for higher education of youth from low-income families.
