Parliament debates controversial telephone surveillance law
The parliamentary legal committee has finalized behind closed doors a draft law that would allow the intelligence service KYP to wiretap telephone conversations without judicial approval. This judicial consent was previously required by law. The vote on the controversial law is scheduled for Thursday. Critics see this as endangering national security rather than protecting it.
