Parliament Passes Reform of Non-Performing Loans Framework
The Cypriot Parliament has passed comprehensive reform legislation to reshape the framework for non-performing loans and enforcement proceedings. The plenary approved two bills from the Ministry of Finance as well as several motions submitted by parties, which provide relief to borrowers and ease the burden on guarantees in enforcement proceedings. The vote was marked by fierce debates between parties and a citizens' movement against foreclosures outside the Parliament building.
