Parliament rejects landfill tax – €23 million from recovery plan at risk
The Cypriot Parliament has rejected a reform package introducing a landfill tax on household waste by majority vote. The planned regulation would have provided for a fee of €10 per ton starting from the end of 2027, with annual increases of €5 until 2030. The rejection jeopardizes €23 million in funding from the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan.
