Parliamentary committee extends debate on telephone surveillance
The legal affairs committee of the Cypriot parliament has decided by majority to postpone discussion on legalizing telephone call surveillance under certain conditions and requirements to the new legislature following elections in May 2026. The decision extends a debate lasting several years on permitting telecommunications surveillance for investigating certain crimes. The issue remains controversial and continues to be deferred.
