Parliamentary Election 2026: Election Preparation and Gender Representation
In the parliamentary election on May 24, women account for only 29.7 percent of candidates - 224 women compared to 529 men. Although a record number of 753 candidacies were submitted in total (100 more than in the previous election), there is a gender imbalance in the ballot papers. Political parties are preparing intensively for the final stretch, with complete communications and organizational teams, while the printing company is producing the largest ballot papers in Cypriot democracy history to accommodate all the candidates.
