Payment Fraud: Fewer Cases, But Higher Losses
According to Central Bank data, the number of payment fraud cases in Cyprus in the second half of 2025 decreased by 5 percent, however total losses increased by 16 percent. With approximately 14,000 reported fraud cases, a concerning trend emerges: while fewer offenses are being registered, these are causing significantly higher financial damage. The Central Bank particularly warns against credit transfer fraud.
