Pedestrian crossings in Nicosia and other cities are deteriorating due to lack of maintenance and becoming a safety threat to pedestrians. The faded markings are barely visible, leading to dangerous situations as drivers do not recognize the crossings. Maintenance of crossings in the Nicosia municipality alone costs over 100,000 euros per year.
