Pilot and teenager land damaged aircraft on California beach
A pilot and his 16-year-old nephew experienced an emergency in California when the engine of their Piper PA-28 aircraft failed approximately five minutes after takeoff from John Wayne Airport. The single-engine aircraft had to make an emergency landing, with both occupants escaping with minor injuries.
