Police officer shoots at wife – institutions speak of femicide
The Mediterranean Institute for Gender Studies (MIGS) described the incident in Limassol, in which a police officer shot his wife in front of a school, as attempted femicide. The head of the institute pointed to the severity of gender-based violence and mentioned that the perpetrator also drove away a citizen who wanted to help. In the last three years, over 2,700 crimes against women were registered.
