Police Protection for Cyprus' Former Politicians and Presidents' Widows Reduced
Following a legal opinion from the Justice Ministry, police protection for several Cypriot figures will be reduced or completely withdrawn. Four people lose their protection entirely: former parliamentary presidents Yiannakis Omirou and Dimitris Syllouris, as well as the widows of former presidents Elsi Christofias and Androulla Vasiliou. Protection for ex-President Nicos Anastasiades will also be reduced, with the extent yet to be decided.
