Port Concessions as New Economic Diplomacy
The article analyzes the international trend of using port concessions as an instrument of economic diplomacy. Using the example of Karachi Port in Pakistan, which handles approximately 60 percent of Pakistan's freight traffic, it shows how a concession agreement signed in 2022 has reshaped the ownership structure for the next 50 years. Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum of Inmā Emirates Holdings secured the deal through a joint venture.
