Power crisis looms: 50% of conventional capacity endangered by 2030
Cyprus faces a serious electricity supply crisis by 2030 if nine old power plants in Dekelia and Vassiliko are shut down as planned. The capacity loss is estimated at approximately 750 MW, equivalent to 50 percent of conventional electricity production. Authorities and unions are warning the parliamentary energy commission about this critical shortage in electricity supply security.
