Power outages hit tourism sector, hotel occupancy falls to 85%
Cyprus's tourism industry suffers losses due to power outages on Wednesday and rising travel cancellations. Average hotel occupancy in July and August stands at 85%, significantly below the previous year, with estimated losses of 12-14% for the entire year 2026. Tourism association STEK criticizes the power outages as incompatible with Cyprus's reputation as a modern European tourism destination.
