Power outages in Cyprus: Nationwide load shedding after record demand
Cypriot power grid operators implemented an emergency rotating load distribution protocol Wednesday evening as demand exceeded electricity generation. The country was divided into geographic groups: Nicosia, Limassol, and the Larnaca-Famagusta region into 22 groups, Paphos into 18 groups. Each group was without power for approximately 30 minutes. The outages ended at 20:22 after power supply was rebalanced.
