Power Workers in Cyprus Conduct 24-Hour Strike
Employees of the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) conducted a 24-hour strike after negotiations with the energy minister ended without results. Five unions (EPOPAI, SIDHEK-EK, SEPAIK, SYVAIK, and the Free Pancipriot Organization of EAC Employees) declared the strike inevitable after two warning strikes in February and March. The protests are directed against costs and supply adequacy in electricity provision as well as long-standing problems in the company.
