Prison overcrowding severely strains police holding cells
Overcrowding at the Central Prison is creating critical conditions in police holding cells. The Lakatamia police station, designed for 40 people, currently holds 77 detainees, resulting in sleeping on the floor and concerns about hygiene, safety and human rights.
