Public service: 78,433 employees employed
Employment in Cyprus's extended public sector grew to 78,433 employees in the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 1,119 persons or 1.4% compared to the previous year. The largest growth was recorded in local authorities, particularly in regional self-governing organizations, which showed an increase of 39.1%.
