Pufferfish Cause Severe Damage to Fisheries
150 fishermen have caught 103 tons of invasive pufferfish over 20 years, causing considerable damage to coastal fishing. Although the invasive species has been present for two decades, there have been no swimming accidents to date, only cases of food poisoning. A subsidy program worth 1.39 million euros is in progress to help fishermen combat the species.
