Purdue Pharma Ordered to Pay Over 8 Billion Dollar Fine
A court in New Jersey imposed a fine of over 8 billion dollars against US pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma, which is owned by the Sackler family. The company was held responsible for aggressive marketing of the powerful painkiller OxyContin and concealment of risks associated with the opioid crisis in the United States.
