Rare Cypriot sheep breed threatened by foot-and-mouth disease
A rare native Cypriot sheep breed is threatened with extinction after antibodies against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) were detected in a herd in Dromolaxia. Breeder Constantinos Mouskou expressed his concern that hundreds of animals could be culled according to applicable disease control measures. The discovery potentially endangers the continued existence of this genetically valuable breed.
