Record Viking coin find with nearly 3,000 coins in Norway
Archaeologists and hobby treasure hunters have discovered the country's largest Viking coin treasure near Rena in eastern Norway. The excavation with nearly 3,000 silver Viking coins began on April 10, when the two hobby detectives Rune Sætre and Vegard Sørlie made the initial finds, setting a new record in Norwegian archaeological history.
