Reduction of protective officers for politicians decided
The Cypriot government has decided to reduce the number of police officers responsible for guarding incumbent and former politicians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accepted recommendations from the police for cuts following a legal review. The decision was justified on the grounds that one department can undertake this task instead of the entire Council of Ministers being involved.
