Refugee Warns Against Tourism Boom in Occupied Akanthou
A member of the Pan-Cypriot Refugee Association warned the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees against the tourist transformation of occupied Akanthou following the model of Ayia Napa. Massive new construction activities for holiday properties threaten the village with loss of its cultural character. The activist fears that the last generation with a living connection to the village cannot pass on this cultural continuity.
