Repairs begin on deteriorating canal beneath Nicosia Street
Repair work has begun in Nicosia on a roughly 50-year-old rainwater canal beneath Digenis Akritas Avenue, one of the city's busiest streets. The canal carries water from the Vasilopotamos River. The head of Nicosia's municipal administration does not rule out the possibility that parts of the street could collapse. Extensive renovation measures are planned.
